Model Engine Video (6 mb)

This engine runs on compressed air, but operates much the same as a 4 stroke internal combustion engine.  It has a camshaft that runs at half the speed of the crankshaft and an automotive style poppet valve which allows no air leakage at all.  The special valve body I designed holds the exhaust port open until the inlet valve is opened by the cam at which time the exhaust port is closed.  At the end of the power stroke, the exhaust port opens once again and stays open until the next power stroke.

Froment Solenoid Engine Powered by two solenoids in a beam configuration, running a crank through levers.
Two Cylinder Steam Engine Similar valving to first engine, two cylinder, 4 stroke operation.  Dual 3.5" flywheels, 3/4" bore, 1" stroke.
Vertical Air Engine Another Compressed Air Engine, Same Valve Arrangement, 2 stroke operation, 3/4" bore, 3/4" stroke.
Stirling Engine Stirling Engine, 3/4" bore, 6" built up, flywheel.  Runs on alcohol burner.
Oscillating Steam Engine 1/2" bore, 1/2" stroke, 4.5" flywheel cast from zinc / aluminum.
Homemade Airgun This airgun shoots .25 caliber pellets at about 730 feet per second.  Powered by bulk fill CO2.
